This one is actually on my "See Soon" list. I'm normally in no hurry to see movies when they come out, but I thought this seemed too good.
I still haven't seen The Royal Tennenbaums, but yes, Moonrise Kingdom was lovely.
Dang, I wish I could have seen it with you. I'll have to check out 'Moonrise Kingdom' sometime this week!
Let me know what you think when you do!
Oh, it was so lovely! Like The Royal Tennenbaums, which used to be my favorite movie ever, but less depressing because it has children! Adorable children! And it dealt with all the tropes from children's literature that I love, like orphans and running away and living in a self-contained world that is still rife with adventure and possibility. My only qualm is that Jason Schwartzman appeared entirely too late, and his part was entirely too small, but at least he looked good in that tiny scouting uniform. Guh.
Ha, I actually liked how tiny Jason Schwartzman's part was -- it made it that much funnier that it was so random and quick. But yeah, he's great in everything, so I wouldn't have minded if his part were bigger. :)
I LOVED this movie. I'm a big fan of Rushmore and Royal Tenenbaums, and Moonrise was a big return to form. I think Wes Anderson's best characters are always uber precocious kids. The main kids in this were awesome. And I loved the look of this movie; he always include so much detail. It got me excited for fall. Best of all, I love that MK is cleaning up at the box office, meaning that people aren't just watching comic book movies this summer.
Watched that movie last night. It was pretty awesome.
