Ok, just so we're clear

So literally NOTHING Pres. Obama does will make some of you happy, right?

You aren't happy when he wins the Nobel Peace Prize.  You aren't happy when he gives the order to kill Osama bin Laden.

You aren't happy when he keeps campaign promises.  You aren't happy when he breaks them.

You aren't happy when he doesn't release his birth certificate, you aren't happy when he does.

I saw someone on facebook yesterday who wasn't happy that he ended his speech with, "God bless America," and no, this person wasn't even an atheist.*

LOOK.

You don't have to agree with him politically.  You don't have to like all of his decisions, or even most of his decisions.  But you really can't give him credit for even ONE thing?

I just have to say, if he is a big secret terrorist/socialist/Kenyan/New World Order agent, now would be the time to blow his cover and enslave our men, sterilize our women, and force our children into training camps because damn, even with a basketful of puppies he's never going to win some of you over anyway.

(I know I said I was taking a break.  This is a break from the break.)

* Not that all atheists are complain-about-everything-loons like that, but you'd think at least someone with an anti-God position would be the person to take issue.

  1. My Facebook page has been awesome with everything from the fact that Osama died on Hitler's death day, Bush killed him years ago and kept it a secret and now Obama is taking credit for it, to how he interrupted the Celebrity Apprentice to get back at Trump for the birth certificate mess.

Honestly if killing a terrorist can't make some of these people nothing will. Maybe Toby Keith needs to write a song about it first.

  2. My bleeding heart belongs to Obama.

Colt, you and I need to be friends. That Toby Keith line cracked me up.

  3. Hah. Luckily none of my realllllly conservative/anti-Obama facebook friends have said anything.
Then again, the way some of them are talking, you'd think they'd personally offed bin Laden themselves.

  4. *Them being facebook friends in general, not the conservative ones in specific.
Antecedents. Whatever. Who need them anyway.

  5. Toby Kieth... hardy, har.

Unfortunately, that IS probably what it will take to make the haters happy.

  6. To be fair, even Obama himself expressed that the Peace Prize thing was a little weird.

  7. Karen - totally agree. And I'm not saying that the president should be above criticism (far from it), I just don't know what at this point President Obama could possibly do to make some people happy. When the military has just successfully killed a mass murderer, and you STILL have issues with how the Commander in Chief did it or announced it, you have some underlying issues you need to think about.

The news is less than 24 hours old, and there are people claiming it was a political stunt, that Osama's not really dead, that they wish someone else had been killed hint-hint (I hope those people enjoy their visit from the FBI ...), that the speech was disrespectful, that we shouldn't have buried him at sea ... seriously. I'm not saying anyone has to switch parties or opinions because of one success, but is it really so hard to give credit where it's due and just be satisfied for a few minutes?

  8. Oh. Spoke too soon. A relative who shall go unnamed posted this:

"Let's be clear on this: OBAMA did NOT kill Bin Laden. An American soldier, who Obama just a few weeks ago was debating on whether or not to PAY, did. Obama just happened to be the one in office when our soldiers finally found OBL and took him out. This is NOT an Obama victory, but an AMERICAN victory!! REPOST IF YOU AGREE!!!!"

    Sigh. Siiiiiigh.

  9. I'm happy that Obama FINALLY sounded like an American President in that speech he gave Sunday night.

(And hi... I wandered over via the A to Z Blogging Challenge. A little late, but still... :) )

  10. I believe that aside from political views, we should always give any president due credit because I know I couldn't get up there and do it. And no man is perfect. Some people will never be satisfied, but I wish they didn't talk about it so much.
